Do You Own A Sliver Maple Leaf?
The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf is a silver bullion coin that has been issued once a year since 1988 by the Canadian Government. The face value of a 1oz coin is 5 Canadian dollars. This makes it the highest among other bullion coins. This coin is the purest of all coins at 99.9% pure silver. In 2008 this coin was actually worth 20 Canadian dollars.
This Silver Maple Leaf design features a maple leaf and consists of one troy once of silver. Other designs of this coin has featured multi colored designs and holographic designs. One thing that remains the same on all of these coins is that they feature a phrase across the bottom of the coin. In 1998 they issued a 10oz coin that marked the 10 year anniversary of the coin. In 1999 each of the coins that were released a mark to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the RCM Maple Leaf Program. The coins produced the next year featured fireworks and the year 2000 to celebrate the millennium.
The Silver Maple Leaf coins of 1996 and 1997 were worth quite a bit more because there was a limited number of bullion coins that were released. Since these are rarer than other coins they will fetch a higher price than those coins that are more readily available. The front side of these coins feature and effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. There are 3 different versions of these coins which are a young head version, an old head version and an older head version. The year that the coin was issued as well as the face value will be seen on this side as well. The back side of the coin features the Maple Leaf.
